When Caleb and I started the Dragon Boat Festival 19 years ago, we never dreamed our son John would become a direct beneficiary of Prisma's Cancer Institute. John was diagnosed with brain cancer in July 2024 - a grade 2 Astrocytoma with an IDH mutation to be exact. We are grateful for the excellent care he has received and continues to receive through his surgeons, oncologists, nurses, and technicians at Prisma Health. We are grateful for Dr Larry Gluck and Dr Jeff Edenfield's support and council during a very scary time. We are grateful for his surgeons Dr Kanos and Dr Hodge who were able to remove 80% of the tumor. We are grateful for the new cancer drug Voranigo developed specifically for John's type cancer and released by the FDA just 23 hours before his first appointment with his oncologist Dr Haughton. We are grateful for our Dragon Boat Family who have been there for us. We are grateful for the fact that all of John's care is available to him right here in Greenville!
